Anna Hunter

As a senior family lawyer with 14 years’ post qualification experience, Anna is a respected and experienced solicitor, advising on all aspects of law relating to divorce, children and financial issues surrounding relationship breakdown. In the current Legal 500 edition, Anna is a specialist in children proceedings and whose ‘quiet confidence makes her perfect for the arena’;

In Chambers & Partners, Anna is experienced in handling both financial issues and child-related cases. A client notes that “she is incredibly supportive and straight talking. She is pragmatic and can see the big picture without overlooking the details, which is quite a skill.” Her remit spans children and financial issues, and she has experience advising on multi-jurisdictional disputes.

In children matters, Anna specialises in relocation cases – both international and within the UK; intractable disputes; and cases with a high degree of complexity, including situations involving cultural issues, as well as cases where the Court makes the child a party to the proceedings and a Guardian is appointed.

As a trained Collaborative Lawyer, Anna is a strong proponent of this method of resolving disputes. The process allows a couple, supported by their solicitors, to work constructively together to find a fair solution to their issues without having to go to Court.

She believes that this is a particularly helpful process for couples dealing with financial issues on the breakdown of a marriage and has successfully employed it in a wide range of cases, from those where there are significant assets including businesses, pensions and  inherited property to small cases involving restricted issues.

Whilst committed to a non-adversarial approach, Anna also has considerable experience litigating within the court system and recognises that some cases require court intervention  and regularly undertakes her own advocacy in children and finance cases.

Anna was appointed a director of Major Family Law with effect from 1st October 2014 in recognition of her service to the practice and her skill and dedication as a family lawyer.
